Belgium at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest

Both Women en men’s team are taking part at the Olympiad.

This tournament has begun the 11th of september.

In the first match, women made a good winning over Oman (4-0). They played the second match against the strong German team. And the Belgian players did better than defend themselves. The harsh score (1-3) does not reflect the fight on the chessboards. You only have to read the comments made by the German players to realise this (see our facebook page).
Today (Friday 13 September), they play Andore.

The men started their tournament with a win against the Mauritania team. The second match was against our neighbours to the north, the Netherlands. Daniel got an excellent draw with the Blacks against Anish Giri, followed by Mher and Sim. Only Thibault’s defeat allowed the Netherlands to win!

Today they play South Korea.
