BK Blitz on Sat. June 7 at Deinze: registrations open!

On Saturday, June 7, 2025 (from 11am to 6pm), chess club Karpov Deinze is organizing the BK Blitz. Because this BK is part of a 4-day chess event, it promises to be a special edition. The tournament will take place in a unique setting. More than 100 artists (painters, sculptors, photographers,…) have been contacted by the organization to transform the playing hall into a true chess art exhibition. Amidst these fantastic works, everyone can compete for the Belgian title. Besides the main prizes , a lot of rating prizes (-2200 / -2000 / -1800 / -1600 / 65+ / – 20 / – 16) are provided. In addition, the organization offers the possibility to catch up afterwards at a closing dinner party. So everyone welcome!

Location: Brielpoort, Lucien Matthyslaan 9, 9800 Deinze / Free parking at the Brielpoort (550 spaces) / Train station a 12-minute walk away

Homologation: FIDE rated tournament

Admitted participants: Belgians, affiliated with KBSB / Belgians, not affiliated with KBSB, but with FIDE ID / Non-Belgians with FIDE ID

Match format: 1 group / 15 rounds, pairings with SWAR according to Swiss System / 3 min + 2 sec / move increment / Fide rated

Entry fee: Seniors: € 15.00 / WFM, FM, Youth (-20): € 10.00 / WIM, IM, WGM, GM: free of charge. Entries and payment no later than May 31, 2025 on account IBAN BE12 9731 1047 9192 BIC ARSPBE22 provided with the notice of “Name” and participant in BK) / € 5.00 extra to be paid for entries and payments after May 31, 2025 and on the spot (also for WIM, IM, WGM, GM)

Timetable: Sign up until 10:30 a.m. / Start Round 1: 11 a.m. / Awards ceremony: 6:30 p.m.

Prize money: Guaranteed 80% of entry fees (at 150 paying participants, the prizes below are guaranteed). If that number is not reached, the amounts will be adjusted by percentage. With more paying participants, there will be additional rating prizes.

• General classification:^1st: € 500.00 /^2nd: € 250.00 / ^3rd: € 150.00 / ^4th: € 100.00 / ^5th: € 75.00.
• Belgian champion: The Belgian champions seniors and juniors (M&V) will receive an additional €100.00 each.
• Rating prizes (-2200 / -2000 / -1800 / -1600 / 65+ / – 20 / – 16) 1st: € 50.00 / 2nd: € 25.00
• Additional prizes: Every 10th / 20th / 30th, and so on in the final standings of the BK blitz 2025, will get their entry fee back.
• No cumulation of prize money is possible for rating prizes and additional prizes. The highest amount is acquired. The lowest amount goes to the next in the respective ranking as far as there is no cumulation. The additional prizes for the Belgian champions are not covered by the cumul rule.
• In case of equality in the various final positions, we will work with separation points according to Buchholz Cut 1 – Buchholz – Sonneborn-Berger – Advancement – Mutual result.

Note: The FIDE-Elo Blitz are used in both pairings and classification of Elo categories. For players who do not have a FIDE-Elo Blitz, the standard FIDE Elo’s are used. If no FIDE Elo, the Belgian Elo’s will be used.

Trophies: Trophies will be provided for the following categories:

• Belgian champion 2025 (the first player in the ranking with a Fide federation BEL or KBSB BEL)
• Belgian champion 2025 (the first player in the ranking with a Fide federation BEL or KBSB BEL)
• Belgian champion -20 years (the first player in the ranking from the -20 category with a Fide federation BEL or KBSB BEL)
• Belgian champion -20 years (the first player in the ranking from the -20 category with a Fide federation BEL or KBSB BEL)
• Tournament Winner
