Chess & Learn Chess Festival

Schaakinitiatief Vlaanderen vzw organises its annual chess festival from Friday evening 30 October 2026 until Sunday evening 1 November 2026 in Ghent. Register as soon as possible so we can properly plan the level groups and meals. You’ll also avoid the waiting list, because places are limited!

Who is it for?
Everyone aged 16 and up, whatever your rating. Whether you’re a beginning club player or a seasoned tournament tiger, you’ll get tailored lessons in groups of your own level. Learning is at the heart of it — but at your own pace, in a relaxed atmosphere.

What to expect?

• Professional group lessons from top trainers
• Practice sessions, small tournaments and side activities
• The freedom to choose what you join – nothing is mandatory, everything is possible
• Good times with fellow chess lovers
• Meet all our Schaakfabriek authors and the “Kip en Schaak” podcasters
• A weekend full of inspiration at the cosy Caïssa chess house in Ghent
• We aim for at least 5 rating groups of roughly -1300, -1600, -1900, -2200 and +2200 Elo.
• This year you can also arrange your stay through us at the nearby “Hostel De Draecke”
