Final – Belgian School Chess Championship 2025

On Saturday 29 March, the final of the 2025 Belgian School Chess Championship took place at the Sint-Michielscollege in Brasschaat. The participating teams consisted of four players and had qualified during the regional championships.

Competition took place in three categories:

• the minis (kindergarten and primary school – 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade)
• the maxis (primary school)
• the secondary schools

Champions were Sint-Pietersinstituut (Turnhout – see picture above – source GvA – 31/03/2025), Basisschool Crombeen (Ghent) and Athénée Royal Charles Rogier (Liège – see picture below – source Facebook Alberto Battistelli – 29/03/2025) respectively.

Final – Belgian Chess School Championship 2026 – application

Next year’s championship will take place on March 28, 2026. Schools (or associations) wishing to organise the championship should submit a dossier to Philippe Vukojevic (philippe.vukojevic@frbe-kbsb-ksb.be) by Saturday, May 31, 2025. More info can also be requested via that e-mail address. The dossier will include at least an overview of the available space (playing venue, cafeteria and recreational areas), toilets, parking facilities (preferably with a plan and pictures) and the number of players and coaching staff that can be received. This space will be made available free of charge, but in exchange, the organising school will receive a wildcard for a team in all three categories, and all bar revenue will also go entirely to the organising school.
