CHESS & STRATEGY GAMES IN THE CLASSROOM – MASTERCLAS BY JOHN FOLEY & BRIGITTA PESZLEG

SATURDAY – 8/11/2025 – BRUSSELS

PLAY – LEARN – TEACH

Let’s explore what the chessboard offers for education. No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and playfulness.

Join us in Bruxelles for a day of ideas, inspiration and practical tools for the classroom to enrich your teaching practice and engage students in new ways. No prior chess experience is needed. If you care about helping children learn and grow and love to teach through play, this Saturday MasterClass is for you.

About the Event:
The MasterClass is based on the ECU107 – Chess and Strategy Games in the Classroom training course and presents a variety of strategy games and puzzles that can be played on a chessboard. It also highlights their educational benefits for children and explains the teaching methods used to incorporate them in the classroom. The interactive MasterClass is led by members of the Education Commission of the European Chess Union and provides hands-on tools that educators can use immediately.

  • Language: English (Translation to French and Dutch is provided.)
  • Fee: €40 
  • Student’s fee: €25
  • Your ticket includes sandwich lunch and refreshments, giving you time to connect, share experiences, and learn from fellow educators.

his event is designed for teachers, school staff, chess tutors, and educators of all kinds who value playful approaches to learning and want to use engaging game-based activities to motivate children in the classroom.

  • You will learn how to enhance students’ cognitive development and social interaction skills through the use of games and puzzles played on the chessboard.
