Call for applications : Organizer Belgian School Chess Championship 2027

Philippe Vukojevic     18.04.2026

The Royal Belgian Chess Federation is looking for an organizer for the final of the Belgian Inter Schools Chess Championship 2027, to be held on Saturday, April 17, 2027.

Anyone can apply (schools, event organizations, clubs, or a collaboration between different institutions).

The organizer must provide venues (preferably already available on Friday evening, April 16, 2027). These venues consist of:

  • A tournament hall (since there are 3 categories of participants—minis, maxis, and secondary—and in each category at least 25 teams of 4 players participate, a minimum capacity for 300 participants must be provided).
  • A catering area (for the sale and consumption of food and drinks). This space also serves as an area for coaches and parents.
  • An (outdoor) play area where children can relax between games.

The organizer provides the chess equipment (standard sets no. 5 or 6 and official clocks with increment capability).

The organizer is responsible for catering (at reasonable prices).

The organizer appoints, in cooperation with the youth director, an arbitration team. The chief arbiter is the highest-ranking member of the team, unless otherwise agreed.

Regarding prizes, the Royal Belgian Chess Federation provides the trophies and medals for the winners. The organizer provides additional prizes.

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Available space (also mention parking possibilities)
  • Accessibility
  • Guarantee of availability of equipment (possible channels through which the equipment will be borrowed/rented)
  • Nature and quantity of any additional prizes

The organizer may retain the full proceeds from catering.

The organizer receives one wildcard for each category (minis, maxis, and secondary). If the wildcard is not used (or cannot be used), the youth director must be informed as soon as possible so that an additional team can be selected.

More information can be obtained from the Youth Officer (philippe.vukojevic@frbe-kbsb-ksb.be). Each application must be submitted to him by email in the form of a motivated dossier attached to the email.

The deadline for submitting the dossier is May 31, 2026. The Board will aim to assign the championship before the end of the school year.
