From Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026, Schaakinitiatief Vlaanderen vzw held its annual Chess & Learn weekend at Schaakhuis Caïssa in Ghent, home of KGSRL. Players of all ages and levels spent three days on lessons in four level groups, rapid and blitz tournaments, a four-player chess (vierpoot) tournament, Hands & Brains, and a Saturday-evening lecture on chess and AI (see our Chess & Learn announcement).

What did the Chess & Learn participants think?

After the weekend, the participants filled in our feedback form. In their own words:

“This weekend is the ideal mix of fascinating lessons and relaxation. I wouldn’t know how to make this formula any better.”

“A fantastic offer, very good players, teachers and organisers, at a very reasonable price. Congratulations!”

“Physically getting together is a huge added value. Interactive lessons in person are so much more effective and enjoyable than online lessons!”

“The quality of the lessons, with the emphasis on practical things for your level.”

“Great that you manage to attract such a high level of teachers.”

“I find the app impressive.”

“A beautiful initiative and very well organised.”

With an average score of our participants of 4.7 out of 5, the organisation team looks back very proudly on a very fun weekend!
