The Annual General Meeting took place this past Saturday at our head office. Despite efforts by the OA to facilitate an online meeting option, only 60 clubs participated, either in person or via representation. This turnout was unfortunately insufficient to vote on the proposed changes to the statutes, which means a follow-up general meeting will be necessary, where decisions can proceed regardless of the number of attendees. We encourage all clubs to seize these opportunities to make their voices heard in the future.
In terms of decisions, the accounts and budgets were largely approved, showing confidence in our work, which we appreciate.
The various proposals for changes to the tournament regulations (https://blog.frbe-kbsb-ksb.be/blog/general-assembly-23-november-2024/) were approved, with the exception of the obligation to use the planning module (vote 12).
In terms of elo, votes 5 and 6 were approved. Vote 7 (FIDE ELO intention vote) was also approved, but not 8 (FIDE ELO regulation proposal). So we keep a national elo system for the time being, while actively working on an improved proposal to migrate to FIDE ELO.
I would like to draw the attention of the clubs to a discussion at the level of arbiters. The problem seemed that some clubs did not have an official referee (so C minimum) with a FIDE license (which costs € 20). Ensuring tournaments have trained and registered referees aligns with standards in other sports and helps maintain the quality and fairness of our competitions. Similarly, we encourage clubs to ensure their interclub leaders are also qualified referees.
Finally, the GA re-elected Luc Cornet and appointed Stef Renkens. Welcome to Stef in the OA!
